An RHR Midwest Driver Academy gives young drivers the opportunity to drive a real Bandolero or Legend race car in a safe, structured, and coached environment.

Drivers learn the basics of safety, car control, track awareness, driving line, throttle and brake control, and confidence behind the wheel. More experienced drivers can work on racecraft, consistency, restarts, video review, data review, and performance development.

Driver Academies are open to drivers ages 7 and up.

No experience is required for our entry-level courses. We offer programs for first-time drivers, beginning drivers, and drivers with experience who want to continue improving.

Drivers may participate in Bandolero Academy, Legend Academy, or both, depending on age, size, experience, course availability, and proper fitment in the race car.

Academy course options may include:

• Intro to Legends
• Beginning Bandoleros
• Beginning Legends
• Performance Bandoleros
• Performance Legends
• Additional track time, when available

Each course is designed to meet drivers at the right level and help them take the next step in their development.

Academy packages start at $199.

Pricing depends on the course selected, car type, number of sessions, coaching level, and whether the driver is participating in a Bandolero or Legend program.

A deposit is required to secure a driver’s spot. Final pricing, payment deadlines, and course details will be provided during registration or in the registration packet.

RHR Midwest Driver Academies are held at select race tracks throughout the season.

Academy stops are typically scheduled as two-day events. Families select their preferred location, day, and time of day during registration. Exact session times are confirmed after registration based on demand, driver needs, and course scheduling.

Registration is completed through our online registration form.

After submitting the form, James Sindler will review your registration and follow up with next steps. A deposit is required to secure your driver’s spot.

Once registration and deposit are received, we will confirm your driver’s Academy day, time, arrival instructions, equipment needs, and any additional details before the event.

Each driver is required to have proper safety equipment before participating on track.

Required safety equipment includes:

• Helmet
• Head and neck restraint system
• Fire suit
• Racing gloves
• Racing shoes
• Receiver earbuds
• Helmet liner

If your driver already has safety equipment, please bring it with you. Personal equipment is preferred because it helps ensure the best and safest fit.

If you need assistance with equipment, we are happy to help. We may have used or rental equipment available for select drivers, but availability is limited and fit depends on the driver’s size, height, and weight. We cannot guarantee that our available equipment will fit every driver.

Receiver earbuds and helmet liners will be available for purchase at the Academy and are required for participation.

Driving time depends on the course selected, track layout, driver experience, and Academy schedule.

Academy courses are structured by on-track sessions. A session may be approximately 6 to 10 laps or around 5 minutes, depending on the track and format for that Academy.

Some courses include two sessions, while others include three or more sessions with added coaching, video review, data review, or development drills. Additional track time may be available at select Academies.

Yes. A driver may register for both Bandolero Academy and Legend Academy at the same location if availability and driver fitment allow.

For safety reasons, drivers may not complete both courses on the same day. If a driver signs up for more than one Academy course, those courses must be scheduled on separate days to help manage focus, fatigue, safety, and learning quality.

Yes. Not every driver who attends an Academy is brand new.

Our Performance Bandoleros and Performance Legends courses are designed for drivers who already have experience and want more focused development. These courses may include line refinement, consistency work, throttle and brake control, restarts, passing, being passed, cone work, scenario-based drills, video review, data review, and higher-level coaching.

Yes. Rentals, arrive-and-drive programs, and Academy participation involving Redhead Racing / RHR Midwest Syndicate equipment may include a standard crash clause.

Families are responsible for damage caused during Academy participation, including damage to the race car, equipment, track property, or related materials. If a driver causes damage to the car or equipment, the family is responsible for the cost of repairs or replacement.

Additional waiver, rental agreement, and crash clause details may be provided before on-track participation.

Motorsports events can be affected by weather, track conditions, or other circumstances outside of our control.

If an Academy is postponed, delayed, or rescheduled, we will communicate with registered families as quickly as possible. Payment, deposit, transfer, and rescheduling details will be handled according to the Academy policy and registration packet.

Yes. A parent or guardian should remain on site during the Academy.

These are youth motorsports activities, and parents are an important part of the process. We want parents to understand what their driver is learning, how to support them, and what the next steps may look like.

Bring any safety equipment your driver already owns, including helmet, head and neck restraint, fire suit, gloves, and racing shoes.

We also recommend bringing water, snacks, weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, and anything your driver may need to stay comfortable during the day.

Additional arrival instructions, schedule details, and equipment reminders will be included in the registration packet before the Academy.

No. The Academy is not a race.

The Academy is a coached driver development program focused on safety, learning, confidence, car control, and improvement. Some sessions may include multiple cars on track, group qualifying, rabbit sessions, or scenario-based drills depending on the course and driver experience, but the goal is development, not competition.

After the Academy, families may have several next-step options.

Some drivers may attend another Academy, purchase additional track time, rent a car for a race event, explore weekly racing, purchase a Bandolero or Legend car, or continue with coaching and driver development.
